Business insurance policies have evolved tremendously over the years to the extent that policyholders may not actually be aware of the cover that they have. This is particularly the case with regards to breakdown insurance.
In this competitive business insurance sector, including breakdown insurance as part of an insurance package, is an effective way of insurers adding value and differentiating themselves from the competition.
The cover offered does differ from insurer to insurer. For example, most insurers will offer breakdown on computer equipment, whilst some go as far to include lifts, air conditioning and boilers.
Some insurers may however, require maintenance contracts to be in place, but this isn’t the case with all of them. One leading insurer has no requirements for a costly maintenance contract to be in force at all.
It should be noted that equipment used in a production process is normally excluded, however, it is possible to add in this valuable aspect for an additional premium.
