A new chapter for Macbeth as we acquire CMJ – a personal note from Paul

It’s an exciting new chapter for the Macbeth team; I’m delighted to share that we’ve just completed the acquisition of CMJ Insurance Brokers, a move that’s been years in the making. It also takes us to the next level, as one of the Thames Valley’s biggest insurance brokers, with a Gross Written Premium of £13M.

The acquisition’s a first for us. To date, our impressive growth has been purely organic, and this will continue, but having known the CMJ team for almost ten years, when the opportunity came up to acquire such a high-quality business, we moved fast. For a company like ours, our strength is our people. Any strategic decision like this rests 100% on finding the right cultural match. We know the leadership team at CMJ share our values and approach and that their clients and brilliant people will become a real asset to the Macbeth family.

Excitingly, we’re in the position now to really leverage our superb existing infrastructure, potentially through further acquisitions in the future.

Building a legacy business

On the subject of family, it’s been a real privilege to lead the business through this process. Many of our clients still remember my dad, Malcom Macbeth, whose values of nurturing lifelong relationships and putting our clients before all else, live on today. I know he’d approve of the fresh-thinking, entrepreneurial approach that’s helped us evolve as a leading regional player today. We’ve achieved a huge amount since our MBO in 2009 and I’m incredibly proud to lead such a special team of people who represent our values so brilliantly. Safe to say, we remain committed to building a legacy business and we’ll continue to develop local talent and invest in our community and local charities.

Going above and beyond

This acquisition has been a learning curve to say the least and I’m truly grateful to everyone who’s been part of this. Huge thanks to the teams at FSP and White Hart Associates for your support in the last few months. The brilliant Macbeth team who’ve been part of this vision from the word go and our new team members for showing such professionalism and enthusiasm for this next chapter. And of course our clients – this move is all about how we build on our independence, client excellence and innovation to continue to grow with you.
