A new chapter for Macbeth as we acquire Peter Lole – a personal note from Paul
April 20, 2021
We love to keep busy at Macbeth!
We’re delighted to complete our second acquisition in 18 months, with the purchase of Buckinghamshire-based Peter Lole Insurance Brokers. For us, this move is about further consolidating Macbeth’s position as a leading independent chartered insurance broker in the Thames Valley.
The right culture fit
It’s never about numbers for us, but we’re delighted to be welcoming the Peter Lole team into the Macbeth family – we’re now a 45 strong team which is incredible. And with our gross written premium income increasing from £17m to £23m, our industry position is strengthened even more.
Following our successful CMJ purchase, we weren’t actually looking to acquire again so quickly. But in Peter Lole, we recognised a business that, like Macbeth, puts its people first and is totally focused on providing their clients with an exceptional service. It was ultimately the culture fit that literally sealed the deal.
Tracey Meaney, Director, and the team are market-leading specialists in logistics and freight, so it’s very much an opportunity for us to grow our expertise in this space, building on our own track-record of technology, recruitment, media and life sciences.
Always a Thames Valley-first business
You could say that this move reflects our strong ambitions within the Thames Valley. Yes, it’s a time of growth and transition, with Ben becoming MD and me moving into a CEO role, but we remain committed to the Thames Valley and will continue to invest in our people, partnerships, and community at a local level..
Without question, we’ll also continue to consider selective acquisitions in the future, if the fit’s right, from both a cultural and geographical point of view. Again, this isn’t about being the biggest. It’s about being the best we can be, and having some fun along the way!
On that, I’d like to say a huge thank you to our partners and advisers at Field Seymour Parkes and White Hart Associates who supported us on this acquisition.
As always, thank you for your continued support.
Best wishes
Paul
