‘Closer to You’ Campaign by Ecclesiastical – Donating £2,500

May 12, 2021

Naturally, as independent insurance brokers, we have close relationships with numerous insurance underwriters. Some are more general in their appetite, others tend to specialise in certain areas. When one of them offered us £2,500 to give to the charity of our choice, we jumped at the chance!

Founded over 130 years ago specifically to provide protection for the Anglican church Ecclesiastical Insurance now specialise in home, heritage, charity and educational risks, as well as staying true to their roots by providing specialist cover for churches.

Closer to You

Since 2016 Ecclesiastical have donated over £97m to over 7000 charities. They want to get that figure over £100m. The Closer to You community support program is an extension to their existing charitable donation program. It recognises Select Brokers, and gives them an opportunity to direct some of Ecclesiastical’s donations to a cause that is local to them. Each Select Broker has £2,500 to award. We chose to split ours across two separate charities: Sebastian’s Action Trust and The Charlie Waller Trust.

Sebastian’s Action Trust provide much needed emotional and practical support for life-limited children and their families. We have had had first hand experience of the support Sebastian’s Action Trust is able to give and are delighted to be able to continue to help.

The Charlie Waller Trust is a client of ours based in Thatcham providing support and education for young people’s mental health. A number of us got involved in their Fit for Feb campaign earlier in the year, walking, running and rowing our way to 280k!

Thank You

Of course, we’re delighted to be able to direct Ecclesiastical’s generous donation to these two charities. Thank you very much to the team. In addition, the insurer is also offering to team up with Select Brokers for volunteering days and fundraising challenges, so we’ll be looking to take full advantage of that later in the year!!
